Genuine stained glass is always handcrafted, even today. First, each individual part must be cut from larger sheets of colored glass. Then, all edges are smoothed and wrapped with metal foil. All glass parts are carefully assembled, one by one, into the 3-dimensional design. Finally, the completed piece has all metal surfaces electroplated for strength and luster.
